Hi!
I am Eva. I am a passionate language teacher with a focus on Arabic. With eight years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of sharing the beauty and delicacies of the Arabic language with my students. Originally from Hungary, I now live in Switzerland with my family.
Throughout my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse learners in various settings. Whether it be private, semi-private, or group lessons of different sizes, I have tailored my teaching approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each student. Holding a master's degree in Arabic linguistics, and a Bachelor's degree in Eastern Languages and Cultures with a specialization in Arabic, I have a deep understanding of the language's structure and nuances.
In order to enhance my teaching skills, I successfully obtained the SVEB EUROLTA Certificate, which enables me to effectively facilitate learning. Since I speak English fluently and have a strong command of German, I am able to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment for students from various linguistic backgrounds.
Teaching is not just my profession; it is my passion. I am genuinely fascinated by languages and cultures, and I believe they are inseparable. In my lessons, I go beyond language instruction and incorporate elements of culture, traditions, and etiquette. I believe, by understanding the cultural context, students can truly connect with the language and develop a deeper appreciation for its richness.
My love for the Arabic language and culture began during my childhood. Fascinated by the stories of 1001 Nights and captivated by the mysteries of the pyramids and pharaohs, I kept exploring the depths of the Arab world's history, and I was mesmerized by its irresistible allure. The beauty of Arabic calligraphy only deepened my admiration. It was clear to me from an early age that I wanted to study linguistics and become a language teacher, sharing my passion with others.
I am excited to embark on this language learning journey with you. Together, we will explore the intricacies of Arabic, unravel the mysteries of its culture, and embrace the beauty of language. Join me as we discover the wonders that await us!
Learning Arabic from a non-native teacher
Learning a foreign language from a non-native teacher can offer several advantages and unique perspectives that can enhance your language learning experience. It can be beneficial, because….
I can give you a clearer explanation of grammar. I have studied the language systematically, which gives me a structured approach to teaching grammar. I can break down complex grammar concepts into simpler terms, making it easier for you to understand and apply them in your language learning.
I can help you to develop Cultural Awareness. I can offer a unique perspective on the Arabic culture and customs. I have firsthand experiences of navigating cultural differences, and I can provide insights into social norms, etiquette, and cultural nuances that native speakers might take for granted. This cultural awareness helps you develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the language.
As a non-native speaker, I have experienced the language learning process firsthand. You may find it easier to relate to me and feel more comfortable asking questions, seeking clarification, and discussing your challenges and concerns. I can offer encouragement and motivation based on my own experiences, inspiring you to persevere and overcome obstacles.
I have learned multiple languages myself. I can draw upon my experiences and knowledge of other languages to offer comparative insights, highlight similarities and differences, and suggest effective learning strategies that are applicable across languages.
I believe, that at the beginning stages of learning a new language, it can be advantageous to learn from a non-native speaker. They can provide a solid foundation and support as you navigate the early complexities of the language. Non-native speakers understand the learning process and can offer relatable insights and effective strategies. However, as you progress to a certain level of proficiency, it becomes equally valuable to learn from native speakers. They bring authentic, colloquial language usage and cultural nuances that native speakers naturally possess. Learning from both non-native and native speakers creates a well-rounded language education, combining foundational knowledge with native fluency.
